There are a lot of potential fixes for this particular issue. We'll highlight some of the possible solutions for you on both the Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S consoles:

  • Check the Xbox status if there are any alerts, wait until the service is back up and running and then try again.
  • They also suggest the classic "try turning it off and on again". Hold the Xbox button down on your controller, then select Restart console > restart.
  • If these don't fix the problem, you can try logging out of your account.
  • Close Fortnite altogether (press Start, then quit the game)
  • Restart Fortnite while logged out. It will then prompt you to sign back in.
  • One further suggestion is based on clearing out the Mac address
  • Go to Settings > General > Network Settings > Advanced Settings > Alternate MAC address > Clear.
  • This will restart the system, and might resolve the problem.
